Kota Kinabalu: Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) plans to amend its constitution at its first annual meeting to be held at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), here, on Nov 13.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, who is also the President of Gagasan Rakyat, disclosed this but declined to elaborate further on the proposed amendment.

“Several motions are expected to be tabled at our first annual meeting. In addition to debating the President’s policy speech, we will also have a debate on a proposed amendment to the Gagasan Rakyat constitution...it will involve respected and experienced debaters,” he told reporters after chairing the Gagasan Rakyat Supreme Council meeting at the party’s headquarters in Alamesra, here, Friday.

Hajiji said he was satisfied with the preparations made for the meeting and hoped it would go smoothly.

The annual meeting of the party’s wings, namely the Wanita, Youth and Beliawanis movements, will be held in the morning and followed by the party’s in the afternoon.

Asked about the total membership of Gagasan Rakyat, Hajiji said 236,000 people were officially registered.

“We are aiming for the party to have more than 300,000 new members by the end of this year,” said Hajiji, who is also Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Chairman.
