TONGOD: Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) is fully prepared to defend the Kuamut state seat in the upcoming 17th Sabah State Election (PRN-17), said its Vice President, Datuk Masiung Banah.

Speaking at the Gagasan Rakyat Kuamut Annual General Assembly held at Dewan Entilibon on Saturday, Masiung expressed confidence that the party will retain the seat for GRS and continue voicing the people’s desire for a local party to lead the state government.

The event also marked the official launch of the PRN-17 election machinery for the Kuamut division, comprising the party’s Youth, Women, and Beliawanis (women’s youth) wings.

The voice of the Sabah people calling for continued leadership by local parties must be respected, and Gagasan Rakyat under the Chief Minister should remain the backbone of GRS,” he said.

Masiung, who is also the Kuamut division chief, requested that his name be among the three proposed GRS candidates for the Kuamut seat in PRN-17.

He added that a special meeting with GRS leaders in Kuamut will be held to coordinate joint strategies for the election campaign, noting that all party wings have been mobilised to ensure GRS components are well-prepared for the upcoming polls.
