KOTA KINABALU: Gagasan Rakyat Tanjung Aru says it is keeping close to the ground by swiftly responding to grassroots concerns.

Committee member Dr Ritchie Jay Cheng on Monday led a gotong-royong with residents of Kampung Tanjung Aru Lama to repair a wooden jetty that had become dangerously unsafe.

The effort came after villagers alerted him about the risk of collapse.

Dr Ritchie, who sponsored the works, said the jetty is a vital daily access point for the community.

“Safety of residents is the priority. Once we received the call, we immediately went down to take action,” he said.

He added that the programme not only restored a critical facility but also strengthened community spirit.

The division pledged to continue supporting initiatives that directly benefit local residents.
