SANDAKAN: The installation of garbage trap nettings at Kampung Sim-Sim is being implemented in stages since June 12.
This is one of the Sandakan Parliament’s initiatives to reduce garbage debris in tourist hotspots by leveraging funds from Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.
The installation of the garbage trap nettings was led by Future Alam Borneo (FAB), an environmental non-governmental organisation (NGO) that has long been active in implementing various environmental awareness programmes for residents of Kampung Sim-Sim.
FAB representative Ismail Salan said the garbage trap nettings were made in collaboration with a teacher and four of her students from Sung Siew Secondary School (SM) since last May.
