Bread manufacturer Gardenia announced that it will shift its bakery production from Singapore to Malaysia as the company streamlines its regional operations.

The company is shifting its bakery production from Singapore to Johor Bahru, Malaysia, as part of a regional restructuring aimed at improving operational efficiency and staying competitive in a challenging global environment.
According to the company, the move has resulted in the retrenchment of 141 employees at its Pandan Loop facility.
Singapore operations undergo restructuring
The production process in Gardenia’s Pandan Loop factory will be stopped on June 30.
Employees were informed during an internal meeting, with affected staff set to receive support and compensation in line with local guidelines.
Gardenia said it is also exploring suitable redeployment opportunities for eligible employees within its wider operations network.
Despite the production shift, Singapore will remain a key hub for functions such as brand management, product development, quality oversight, distribution, and supply chain operations, with around 250 employees retained after the restructuring.
