KOTA KINABALU: Parti Gemilang Anak Sabah (Gas) has announced its intention to contest 55 State seats in the upcoming 17th State Election, aiming to position itself as a major player in the political landscape.
The party confirmed it will enter the polls without alliances, seeking a direct mandate from voters to form a new single-party government for Sabah.
Its leadership said the decision was guided by a reformist agenda designed to reshape state policies and ensure they bring tangible improvements to the lives of ordinary people.
GAS has introduced a candidate selection formula that allocates 40 per cent to veteran leaders, 30 per cent to women, and 30 per cent to youths, including young women, to build a balanced and sustainable leadership base.
So far, the party has confirmed 28 candidates, with the remaining selections to be determined through an open application process, while its President, Datuk Jismit Japong will contest the Klias seat, his birthplace.
