Local influencer Gatita Yan often shares a lot about her life on social media and recently, she caught the followers’ attention again for showing off her newly-applied American Express platinum card.
It’s common for many people to apply for a credit card today because it’s 1 of the best alternatives to save yourself in an emergency. In a series of Instagram stories, Gatita started showing off her AMEX platinum card which was nicely encased in a package and delivered to her.
It didn’t take long for her to spend with the credit card, as she was seen visiting the mall to get herself some brand-new home appliances. When asked if she wanted to pay via monthly installment or in a lump sump, Gatita told her BF,
“Do I still need monthly installment if I’m using AMEX? Of course lump sump payment!”
In case you’re not aware, not everyone is eligible to be an AMEX platinum card holder. According to the website, you’ll need to earn at least RM190,000 annually, and you’ll need to pay a fee of RM3,250 every year. As a user of the platinum card, you’re entitled to multiple benefits, including free golf at more than 100 clubs in 23 countries, and unlimited access to airport lounges around the world.
“Won’t hurt to stay low-profile”
It’s understandable to why she was excited when she received her platinum card, however, many netizens have urged her to stay low profile. Some believed that the rich do not always flaunt their wealth on social media.
“The rich are often low profile, they will never let the public know what card they’re using, what watches they’re wearing. Everything is discreet.”

“If you earn a million annually, then I’m impressed. Platinum or not, you still need to pay the taxes every year.”
