Gaya Street's Block D is expected to reopen on Jan 30 following the ongoing road surface upgrading works, which were inspected during a site visit on Monday.

Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, who is also minister responsible for City Hall (DBKK), conducted the visit to review progress and ensure existing infrastructure remains safe and suitable for public use.

Also present were DBKK Director-General Datuk Lifred Wong, Deputy Director-General (Operations) Robert Lipon, as well as department heads and officers.

Joniston said tree and overgrown vegetation trimming along buildings, as well as road surface cleaning, should be carried out promptly to maintain cleanliness in line with Gaya Street’s status as a popular public area.

The reopening will allow about 18 Api-Api Night Market traders and 61 Gaya Street Sunday Tamu traders to resume operations as usual, with the public and traders advised to comply with cleanliness guidelines for shared comfort.
