Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu has approved the deal with Hamas for a ceasefire in Gaza, which is expected to come into effect Sunday (January 19), reported Al Jazeera.

With the condition in Gaza predicted to improve vastly if the ceasefire proceeds smoothly, Malaysian tycoon Vincent Tan thinks it’s time for Malaysians to put an end to the ongoing boycott against Starbucks.

No need for Malaysians to continue boycotting the coffeehouse

“Gaza will be peaceful soon, so what’s with the boycott? The ceasefire is a good news for everyone, this is what we’ve all wanted.”

During his visit to Pulau Ketam in Selangor, Vincent told the media that the decision to boycott Starbucks would bring nothing but losses to Malaysians. Previously, Vincent also said over 85% of Starbucks employees are Muslims.

With the emergence of more premium coffee brands, Vincent said he took it on a positive note, saying,

“Competition is good. We will make sure the quality is always maintained. Businesses are bound to have competitions. To me, there’s nothing much to worry about.”

As for Starbucks, Vincent also said he has “tricks” up his sleeves to ensure the brand continues to be Malaysians’ top choice, but Malaysians shouldn’t expect to hear from him about the tips.

“Of course, it’s a secret. We can’t just reveal it.”

To our Muslim friends, are you still patronizing the coffee house? What do you think of Vincent’s take on this?
