Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is eager to avoid comparisons with Blues great Jose Mourinho.

Lampard thrived under Mourinho as a player at Stamford Bridge and revealed he picked up managerial tips from the Portuguese as well as others during his glittering career.

Lampard kicks off his Chelsea managerial career today at Manchester United and says he is committed to finding a style that suits him rather than copying anyone else.

He said: "I did take tips and ideas from all my managers.

"I don't try to be a clone of Jose Mourinho or Carlo Ancelotti, or Guus Hiddink.

"I try to be myself but with influences from them. Some managers are more people-managers, some tactical-managers.

"I've gone out of my way not to make any parallels with my era at Chelsea and anyone else's.

"I make decisions that will help the club. A lot of those decisions are small decisions and you can't get them all right.

"At a big club you have to make them. That's why you're entrusted with the job.

"I'm making decisions that I hope are for the benefit of the club because I'm trying to grow a group here that have a good spirit, focus and dedication to where we want to go."
