KUALA LUMPUR – Ampang parliamentary seat incumbent Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin said ground reports since campaigning indicate that she would be able to defend her seat come polling day.

However, the Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) president-designate said she was cautious and wary of her opponents’ alleged unhealthy campaigning tactics, such as campaign material vandalism and cyberspace attacks.

“Feedback on the ground suggests that many voters have been quite receptive to PBM and are tired of the old politics.

“Everywhere I go, voters came out expressing appreciation for my work in the constituency since 2008.

“Many openly pledged their votes to me. They recognised my contributions in the constituency, such as alleviating the urban poor’s plight, addressing traffic woes and resolving flooding problems,” she said in a statement.

For example, she said she allocated RM247,000 for communal health programmes such as providing 4,500 garbage bins, RM1.65 million to repaint Pangsapuri Taman Cahaya and Pangsapuri Taman Ukay Indah as well as RM1.2 million to upgrade various sporting facilities in Ampang.

“I have also, along with the residents, been actively involved in ensuring the construction of SK Ukay Sg Sering in Bukit Antarabangsa which is expected to be fully completed by the end of 2025,” added Zuraida.

She said women voters were also supportive of her efforts to enhance female empowerment by her becoming the president of the Council of Malaysian Women Political Leaders, among other things. – The Vibes, November 18, 2022
