GE15 Billboards: Real, Unreal, Sexy, Defaced and Dismantled: Nurul Bainun in Muar, Nor Azman in Kuala Pilah, Hannah Yeoh in Segambut and BN's Unwanted Poster in Sabah.

A headline from The Rakyat Post (TRP) "Muar’s Sexy New 'Election Candidate' Has Tongues Wagging" must have attracted readers recently.

The billboard promotes "a pretty woman named Nurul Bainun Murshidi, dressed in a sexy low-cut blue shirt and showing ample cleavage." (The Rakyat Post)

It did start a discussion in two chat groups that I know well. First, a screenshot of the billboard with the attractive lady was shared over breakfast by worshippers after morning prayers at a Mamak shop nearby the Bukit Damansara mosque. Speculations followed.

Most remarked on how young and attractive this candidate looks compared to others in the race, unaware that she is not even one of the three running for office in Muar.

Then the same shot appeared on Newswav Senior Writers chat group. Someone quickly remarked that it is not real. The word PERIKANAN was a dead giveaway.

When we Googled news reports the first to appear was The Rakyat Post (TRP) "Muar’s Sexy New 'Election Candidate' Has Tongues Wagging". (The Rakyat Post)

Apparently, "A content creator has taken social media by storm after she reportedly trolled Perikatan Nasional (PN) with photoshopped images of campaign billboards that portray her as a pretty candidate of the coalition in the Johor constituency" of Muar. (The Rakyat Post)

TRP went on to explain that "Nurul Bainun Murshidi, also known as 'Enon', reportedly shared the images on Facebook that showed her as a "Perikanan National" candidate.

Alluding to PN's cooperation with PAS in GE15,  the billboard also displays her tagline: "Bukan Janji, Tapi PASti". (The Rakyat Post)

TRP says she was criticised online for being unprofessional, but her response is that it is meant to be a joke.

Indeed it is. Amidst the boring serious campaign billboards, hers stands out as being more cheerful bringing smiles to everyone's face.

Anyway, only three candidates are registered to contest the Muar seat - Mohd Helmy Latif (BN), Abdullah Husin (PN) and Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman (Muda) and Nurul Bainun is not one of them. (The Rakyat Post)

Another story about campaign billboards is not as exciting as the one about Nurul Bainun's, comes from the town of Kuala Pilah. "Four banners featuring Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Nor Azman Mohamad for the Kuala Pilah parliamentary seat have been vandalised." (The Vibes)

A resident reportedly told the press that the vandalised displays were spotted a day earlier in the village and nearby a Malay bazaar, and was described as “cheap politics”. Accompanying pictures show that the face of the candidate on two posters had been covered with red paints.

Similarly, in Segambut incumbent MP Hannah Yeoh warns of “voters’ wrath” over vandalism committed to her banner in Taman Tun Dr Ismail in Kuala Lumpur. She took to Twitter this morning to highlight the matter and condemned the act.

“To the party who did this - happy dealing with the wrath of the voters in TTDI,“ she said. (The Star)

Meanwhile in Sabah authorities will dismantle a Barisan Nasional billboard featuring the image of caretaker prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob (BN' Poster Boy) for violating the Election Commission’s campaigning rules. (malaymail)

DAP candidate for Kota Kinabalu said "The party is not contesting in this constituency and according to the rules, cannot be put (ing) up" banners..."I feel a bit bad for taking his face down but this is not 'Lord of the Rings' anymore. It is not one ring to rule them all,” he said, in reference to the popular movie series. (malaymail)

We have quite some time before casting our votes. We hope the campaigning would be civilised, without violence or any form of vandalism against parties.

Violence begets violence hatred begets hatred. But a little smile, some laughter over funny jokes would help brighten our GE15 spirit.

Let's be happy all the way to the ballot box, irrespective of your choice or political beliefs.
