GE15: Chinese voters now more receptive to BN, says Tok Mat

REMBAU – Barisan Nasional (BN) has been increasingly accepted by the Chinese community throughout the country, thus showing positive signs ahead of the general election, said BN deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.

The Umno deputy president said this change in attitude was not only evident but also demonstrated in several by-elections and state elections in Melaka and Johor, in addition to a survey on voters’ attitudes.

“The attitude now is not like it was in 2018. When they saw you wearing a shirt with the ‘dacing’ (scale) logo, they avoided you. When you went to a store, they rushed inside – but now they are waiting for us outside, that is the body language that we can read,” he said, adding that this positive change is happening throughout the country.

He told reporters this after a walkabout in Pekan Kota here today.

Mohamad, who is contesting the Rembau parliamentary seat, said the Chinese community would vote for a government that can properly manage and develop the economy.

He said the members of the community used their common sense in voting and would know who could ensure economic prosperity.

“During (BN’s administration), the economy grew well… and they could take part in economic activities,” he added.
