BERA – Caretaker prime minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob says he has adopted a casual and harmonious approach as his campaign strategy and will shun personal attacks against his opponents.
The Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Bera parliamentary seat in the general election said the mindset of today’s voters – especially those casting their ballots for the first time – is different compared to the past, and they are wiser and more mature in making decisions.
“We (campaign) based on facts, this is what I have done and will continue to do for them (young voters),” he told a press conference after attending the People’s Feast with the Bandar Kemayan Community programme here today.
Ismail Sabri said that the most important thing is to focus on promoting and “selling” one’s own “products” instead of discrediting the products of others.
He reiterated that the government will implement all the promises made through Budget 2023 for the people’s benefit as it already has the earmarked funds.
Ismail Sabri, who has held Bera since 2004, faces Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) Abas Awang and Datuk Asmawi Harun from Perikatan Nasional.
In the previous national polls, Ismail Sabri, who is also Umno vice-president, retained the seat after defeating PH candidate Zakaria Abdul Hamid and PAS’ Musaniff Ab Rahman with a 2,311-vote majority.
The Election Commission has set polling day on November 19, while early voting is on November 15. – Bernama, November 6, 2022
