In less than a month's time, Malaysia's 15th General Election (GE15) will be held. This GE is rather special comparing to the past with some significant changes coming into effect. Yes - the constitutional amendments of lowering of voting age from 21 to 18 and the Automatic Voter Registration ("AVR"). These would have definitely increased the number of new voters in the voters’ roll.

But, does this mean that the voter's turnout rate will also increase accordingly? Highly doubted.

The voter's turnout rate at last GE was optimizing but none would expect the Government formed thereof last for only 22 months. Therefore, it is uncertain as to whether the voters will reflect their disappointment through non-turnout on 19th November.

All the Parties are in the midst of deciding their respective candidates and campaigning to gain as much vote as possible. But time is running out.

There are voters where: some may be excited to vote; some may want to vote but have no idea who to vote and some may not even want to vote.

Now, there are also new "Undi18" voters and AVR voters - first time, young and ignorant...

How are the Parties going to campaign to attract such groups of voters? By way of old-fashioned "ceramah"?

Perhaps they should consider doing so through some modern ways i.e. utilising the social media. Just like how the Malaysian artist and political activist Fahmi Reza is currently doing, not campaigning but educating the public on the various topics regarding election through live streaming on Tiktok.

So far, he has shared the topics on the basics of Parliament, the Government, law making process etc.

Short clips with graphics, clear and easy to understand.

Particularly, his short clip on "Kelas Demokrasi untuk pengundi baru" has reached 1.6 million of views on Tiktok.

He also reposts his own clips on his twitter account and the clip on "Nak undi parti yang mana satu?" has obtained over 17,000 likes and 11,000 retweets. The netizens both on Tiktok and Twitter have reacted quite positively to his works.

This is amazing, isn't it?
