According to NST, we will see more than 900 candidates vying for 222 Parliament seats in this coming General Elections (GE15). There are a number of new political parties and also many contesting as independent candidates. It is a hard choice for our electorate, especially when there are six or even ten choices for that one constituency (Dashboard SPR). Who should I choose? The party or the individual?

I have several favorite candidates in mind. These people have served very well and they have proven records of selflessness, integrity and hard work. Yet, there are a number of new people, nice men and women who have proven their capabilities in various fields. I really admire them and I am confident that they would be able to contribute positively to the nation.

However, as I pondered over my choice of candidates this 19th November, I asked myself, “What is the main contention for this GE15? Issues of corruption, environment, economy, social woes or what?” There are so many important and pressing issues that our nation has to look into. To me, the war now is first against CORRUPTION that has caused our nation to be in such a sorry state. When we win this war, then we battle the issues of economy, inflation, environment and social woes.

If we can all unite and kill CORRUPTION with one great blow on 19 November, Malaysia can surely be restructured. Our economy can be nursed back and become healthy again. Investors will be more confident of setting up their factories and offices here again. Our young people will definitely have greater job opportunities. Our workforce in the cities can be assured of better transport systems. When our hard-earned money does not flow into pockets of CORRUPTION, Malaysia will have the resources to solve many issues of climate change, rising inflation and social woes.

So, to all who are contesting especially in areas where there are multi-cornered fights, please rethink for the sake of the nation. For the eligible voters who are sitting on the fence, please make your choice wisely. Sitting on the fence cannot help any one or the nation as a whole. For those who are torn between choosing the nice guy or gal that I have known, I would say being a nice person is simply not enough now. Let us all who have a vision of a better Malaysia win this war together.  The nation needs every single one of you, candidates and voters alike.

It is Malaysia first. It is my nation first. Then comes my race, ego and aspirations. When my nation is reset and going the right way, many problems can be solved. This GE15, let us come together and with one heart and voice say: NO MORE CORRUPTION!
