GE15: PSB, PBK unite to run for urban seats against GPS in S’wak

MIRI – Local opposition parties Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) and Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) have formed a pact to contest the state’s urban seats in the 15th general election (GE15).

The pact will see the two avoid clashing parliamentary seats while supporting each other’s candidates, and opposing those from the current ruling coalition Gabungan Parti Sarawak and opposition bloc Pakatan Harapan.

It was also announced yesterday that PBK secretary-general Priscilla Lau will be running for Lanang. Alice Lau of DAP is currently the two-term Lanang MP.

PBK president Voon Li Shan was also present at the announcement.

With this, PSB president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh will have PBK’s support when he challenges DAP for the Sibu seat after he announced his intentions on September 5.

Wong is also the Bawang Assan assemblyman, which is in Sibu.

Currently, Oscar Ling of DAP holds the Sibu seat, after defeating Sarawak United People’s Party and two local parties in the 2018 election.

Sarawak has 31 parliamentary seats of which GPS controls 19, DAP with six, PSB with three, and one each by Parti Bangsa Malaysia, PSB and an independent. – The Vibes, September 10, 2022
