GE15: row between Sng, Zuraida now over, claims PBM comm unit

KUALA LUMPUR – The fight over the leadership of Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM), which ignited recently between Datuk Larry Sng and Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin, has apparently been resolved.

A brief statement by the party’s communication unit said both individuals had settled matters amicably following a visit to the Registrar of Societies (RoS) office in Putrajaya this morning.

“PBM’s top leadership in the spirit of goodwill have successfully ironed out various issues and are focused on facing the 15th general election (GE15).”

During the meeting, PBM leaders apparently agreed to finalise and endorse the list of candidates contesting in the general election and the resolution that Sng will sign off on their candidacy.

“Other matters regarding the party’s administration will be discussed and settled after the election,” the unit added.

Fledgling PBM was previously mired in internal drama as party president Sng suspended president-designate Zuraida and 12 supreme council members for disputing his leadership.

The suspensions were ordered after the party’s records with the RoS showed that Sng is still the president.

Party secretary-general Nor Hizwan Ahmad had issued a statement on behalf of PBM announcing Zuraida as the party’s president.

Sng had also asserted that he would be in charge of naming PBM’s GE15 candidates.

Sng and Zuraida were from PKR, but both have left the party. Sng did so to become an independent MP before forming PBM, while Zuraida joined Bersatu, which she later quit for PBM. – The Vibes, November 2, 2022
