GE15: Tg Karang locals demand for Noh Omar’s return, openly chastise his successor

KUALA LUMPUR – Tg Karang locals prefer to have Tan Sri Noh Omar defend his seat for the upcoming 15th general election (GE15) over his successor, to the point of them openly chastising the latter.

In a live stream by Astro Awani on the launch of Tg Karang BN’s machinery today, the audience can be seen being vocal about their disapproval of the new constituency candidate, Datuk Habibah Yusof, to the extent of booing her after her candidacy was announced.

Another video shared by Astro Awani also showed a loyal supporter crashing the press conference to speak her mind directly to Noh about BN’s preferred choice.

“Tan Sri, you have to understand that the people want you to be the candidate (for Tg. Karang), please Tan Sri,” the unnamed supporter told him repeatedly.

In response to the outcries from the audience, Noh stated in a press conference that he abides by the decision made by the party to axe him from contesting in GE15, and only wished that a proper meeting had taken place to officially discuss his position in the party.

Noh said he would understand if Umno had reasoned with him that it was time to have a new candidate after his six terms in Tg Karang – but he added that no such discussion happened, leaving him in the dark.

“The way I was brushed off was the only thing that hurt my feelings,” said Noh in the conference.

“I am not sad that I was not selected as a candidate, I can accept that. I can’t be a candidate until I die.

“But what saddens me is the way I am put aside like a rag, a piece of trash,” he added.

Noh lamented that the way he was treated disheartened him.

“Even if you really hate me, what’s wrong with calling for a discussion?” he questioned.

“I am open-minded. I know I have been in the field for a long time, I understand the need for a fresh candidate,” he added.

Noh was one of the few Umno members who were axed by the party for allegedly not being aligned with the party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Nonetheless, Noh has the constant loyalty of his supporters, who claim that they would follow him if he chooses to switch to another party. – The Vibes, November 4, 2022
