There's so much more to astrology than just meditating or going on a retreat, its about getting in touch with your spirituality and emotions.

Like how Abhisheksoni.in describes, astrology is the study of how the positions and movements of celestial bodies, such as the sun, moon, planets, and stars, can influence human behaviour and personality traits.

Previously, Astrology used to be something you read at the back of a magazine to see if you and your crush are compatible. Despite it being around for centuries and being a practice amongst Malaysians, especially among the Chinese and Indians, a new generation of people have started to believe in it.

Social media has helped in revamping that perception, it has taken over social media, scroll through TikTok or YouTube and eventually you stop on a video that talks about your birth chart, they even go to an extent of telling you to dress like your rising sign and doing your makeup like your venus sign if you want a glow up.

Astrology started as a niche interest on Tumblr around 2010, when aesthetics were a big part of online identity. Horoscopes gained traction, and crystals became trendy collectables.

Among Gen Z, interest in astrology and tarot surged during quarantine. With everyone stuck at home, social media became a main outlet. Content creators began posting tarot tutorials, zodiac readings, and spiritual messages, boosted by hashtags like #WitchTok and #TarotTok.

Are Gen Z’s choosing to believe in this as a way to escape from their life and consequences? Does believing in the stars and cards help individuals find a sense of belonging and comfort, or do they just need something to back up their purpose in life? Does participating in lifestyle trends that relate to your horoscope feel fulfilling?
