Genoa president Alberto Zangrillo concedes they could lose coach Alberto Gilardino.
Zangrillo was speaking after last night's win against Cagliari.
He said: "The credit for this good season is totally attributable to him and the team, today in the stands there was Spors who is a great talent who was able to build an extraordinary team.
"I love Gilardino, when it was necessary to protect him I did it myself, I'm on his side but it's a delicate matter.
"We need to feel his will, the team played with and for him tonight, they were able to create a great group. It would be painful to lose him, I think all the conditions are there to plan with him."
