Germ Buster boost for students on food safety

RANAU: About 80 students were enlightened on food hygiene and safety to avoid food poisoning at school through the Germ Buster Squad Challenge (SGB Challenge) programme held at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kauluan, Kundasang.

This is in view of school food poisoning cases becoming a major problem nationwide. Deputy Director of Sabah Health (Food Quality and Safety ), Sitti Aralas said the implementation involves an Explorace Competition and the Science Show Talk on the theme “Hygiene and Food Safety”, which is vital in an effort to apply sight, smell and taste concept as a continuous practice right from childhood.

“In addition, we are excited by the talent shown by the students in the poetry creation and recitation competition in conjunction with World Food Safety Day which was held in line with this programme, she said.

Earlier, the SGB Challenge activity were organised by the Food Safety and Quality Division, Sabah State Health Department (JKNS) in collaboration with the Tuaran Area Health Office and the Ranau District Education Office.
