German Economy Minister Katherina Reiche is visiting Ankara for two days to help foster new and deeper business activity in Turkey.
German companies should also benefit in the coming years from the country's announced multibillion-euro investments, Reiche said before departing for the Turkish capital.
They have the opportunity to tap into the Eurasian market thanks to highly qualified Turkish specialists, she added.
Reiche is accompanied by industry representatives from the energy, tourism and technology sectors. The economy minister described Turkey as an energy hub between Europe, the Middle East and the Caucasus.
"Turkey is not only a reliable partner - it is clearly focused on growth in the energy sector," she said.
Asked whether the domestic political situation, including the ongoing crackdown on the Turkish opposition, should be raised during her visit, Reiche said that, alongside pleasant topics, there were also complicated ones.
"We will discuss them, but certainly not just before take-off and not on record," she said.
