The number of unemployed people in Germany fell by 58,000 in May from the previous month to 2.95 million, the Federal Employment Agency said on Friday.
The decline pushed the total back below the 3 million mark, a closely watched threshold in debates over the health of Germany's labour market.
However, the number of unemployed was still 31,000 higher than in May 2025, according to the agency's monthly report.
The German unemployment rate stood at 6.3% in May, down 0.1 percentage points from April but 0.1 points higher than a year earlier.
