Kota Kinabalu: The Federal Government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should urge the Philippines, through its Embassy, to certify the citizenship of refugees in Sabah.

Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) Sabah Sec-Gen Edward Linggu said the Philippines’ move to recognise the country’s refugee citizenship in Sabah could help Malaysia control the movement of foreigners in the labour sector.

“We support efforts of the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) through the Immigration Department to set up the control of non-Sabahan travellers to Labuan,” he said.
