Kota Kinabalu: A tourism product, named “Go To Lepa Banggi”, to attract more to visit Kudat was launched by Yayasan Gulam Modal Insan (YGMI).

It signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a company from China, Liaoning Northern International Travel Service Company Limited at an event held at UTC Sembulan, recently.

Deputy Chief Minister II, Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam, officiated the campaign and witnessed the signing.

“Well done and congratulations to YGMI, especially its President, Datuk Seri Gulam Tumai for the initiative. I am confident this joint venture will boost the arrival of foreign tourists, especially Chinese citizens,” he said.

“This joint venture that focuses on the Kudat district, blessed with the beauty of the open sea and natural islands, is a very accurate plan.

“Kudat is also rich in culture and tradition for the Rungus ethnic group. The Gong Festival held every year could also be used as an attraction for tourists.

“With efforts like this, tourists are not only focused on Semporna, Kundasang or other tourist spots in the State,” he said.

He added that the State Government very much welcomes such efforts and hopes more interesting places in Sabah can be the focus of domestic and international tourists.

Also present were Senior Marketing Manager, Sabah Tourism Board, Josephine Chai, Board Member of Liaoning Northern International Travel Service Company Limited, Zhang Yun and YGMI Group International Tourism Relations Director, Ben Ting.
