Kota Kinabalu: The rebranding of several Sabah ministries reflects the Government’s commitment to advancing the State’s development in step with global changes.
Kawang Assemblyman Dato’ Sri Ghulam Haidar Khan Bahadar said the move to expand the scope and modernise the portfolios was in line with today’s challenging global demands.
Among the most notable ones, he said, are the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation; the Ministry of Youth Development, Sports Advancement and the Creative Economy; and the Ministry of Women, Health and People’s Wellbeing.
“These changes would help nurture future leaders and build a generation capable of propelling Sabah forward.
“This is where Yayasan Sabah Group serves as a strategic partner — acting as a unifying force and a pillar of support in achieving these goals.
“Close cooperation with the relevant ministries will further strengthen the Yayasan Sabah Group’s role in the education agenda, health programmes and people’s wellbeing initiatives,” he said when debating the 2026 State Budget.
He also expressed optimism and confidence in the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor in seeking the best solution to the issue of Sabah’s 40 per cent revenue entitlement.
“The Chief Minister’s good relationship with Putrajaya, particularly with the Prime Minister, gives us confidence that the issue can be resolved,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ghulam highlighted several issues in his constituency that require attention from the relevant ministries, departments and agencies.
Among them, he said, is the need to upgrade the aging water pipeline system in Kinarut, including allocating special funds under the 2026 Budget to improve the pipeline network in key areas.
Another issue is the flooding problem in areas around Kawang which requires a comprehensive drainage master plan, he added.
