Gigantic WW2 bomb detonated in Slovakia after surfacing in Danube River

• The ‘largest bomb ever found’ in the country of Slovakia has been detonated after it surfaced in the drought-hit Danube River, according to NewsNow TASR.
• A team comprising of experts from the Nitra region’s police, Bratislava’s Police Corps' Criminalistics and Forensic Institute, and personnel from the Fire and Rescue Corps, managed to dispose of the bomb, the outlet reported.
• It was reportedly found by a passer-by on Sunday near Virt in the Komarno district amid low water levels on the Danube.
• The bomb was later exploded in a safe area after being put in a hole roughly five meters below the ground.
• According to NewsNow TASR, findings show that the bomb originates from WW2 and is British. It is most probably related to when the Royal Air Force began mining the river in 1944 – also known as Operation Gardening.
