Cristiano Ronaldo has already won almost every major trophy in football. If he is selected for Portugal’s final squad and leads them to their first-ever World Cup title, it would rank among the greatest achievements in football history.
For many fans, including myself, that would be a fitting conclusion to one of the sport’s most remarkable careers.
The Portugal players are carrying the memory of Diogo Jota in their hearts. As they pursue World Cup glory, they will also be playing for a teammate whose passion and spirit inspired millions. Perhaps this is the year Portugal can make history and lift their first-ever FIFA World Cup trophy. ❤️🇵🇹🏆
Who could be the surprise package?
Every World Cup produces at least one team that exceeds expectations.
South Korea reached the semi-finals in 2002.
Croatia reached the final in 2018.
Morocco made history by becoming the first African nation to reach the semi-finals in 2022.

Japan, in particular, continues to impress with an increasing number of players competing in Europe’s top leagues. If they reach the quarter-finals or even the semi-finals, it would not be a surprise.
