My 10-year-old grandson, Izz Fayyadh bin Mohd Faiz, a young football fan belong to Generation Alpha (born from 2013 through 2024). He is one of the kids in this generation are currently between 2 and 13 years old. They are the first generation born entirely in the 21st century. They interact with AI, FB, tablets, and streaming from infancy. They follow the 2026 World Cup players via platforms like YouTube, Roblox Tik Tok sensations, and EA Sports FC (FIFA) gaming icons. Gen Alpha consumes football through quick highlights, social media edits, and video games rather than like grandpa Baby Boomers or dad of 40-year-old of Millennial (Y) generation watching the full 90-minute broadcasts. They gravitate toward players with massive digital charisma.
In our conversations, Fayyadh is grateful for the amazingly uplifting experience of the World Cup. Fayyadh convinced me that “In a surreal coincidence, a 6-month-old Yamal was photographed being bathed by a teenage Lionel Messi, currently ‘GOAT’ (Greatest of All Time) during a 2007 charity photoshoot. Young fans frequently point to this viral ”blessed" as a generation symbol of passing the touch."
