What a refreshing sight to see an independent candidate Razalif Mohd Zain bringing a lion dance performance and a fleet of luxury cars to greet the voters in the constituency of Tanjung Bungah, Penang. Lamborghinis, Bentley, and a Toyota Vellfire SUV.
Truly, these gimmicks are the epitome of a serious and focused start to a political campaign. And let's not forget the golden Chinese-style shirt because nothing says 'trustworthy candidate' like dressing up in flashy attire! You got to look good, mah!
Oh, and how can we overlook the symbol of his campaign - a pen!
How innovative and symbolic! Carrying around a pen and chanting, "Hidup pen!"
Hidup pen! My goodness.
Perhaps the slogan and the chants should have been "long live the pen!" instead to make it more relevant to the anglophone residents of Tanjung Bungah on the island ruled by the British since 1786.
It is clearly the pinnacle of intellectual discourse and policy-making.
Who needs detailed plans and strategies when you have a pen to write down your vague promises? A red notebook might go well with the pen. You'll always remember your promises that way.
And of course, Razalif proudly mentions his dedication to the people of Kebun Bunga for the past 5 years despite losing in a previous election.
Losing and still running again is surely a sign of unwavering commitment and expertise in governance, right?
All in all, it's heartwarming to witness such remarkable campaign tactics from an independent candidate who is young, enthusiastic, and highly imaginative.
Penang's election this year is truly blessed with this unforgettable spectacle.
Let's applaud this candidate for his unparalleled ability to entertain and distract voters from the serious issues that should actually be at the forefront of any election.
Bravo Razalif! You'll be long remembered after this election as the most colourful and enchanting candidate in the election of 2023.
