
POLICE in Johor successfully rescued a teenage girl from China who was abducted in Singapore and taken to Kuantan.
State police chief, Datuk M. Kumar said the victim's father, a 48-year-old Chinese man lodged a report on Tuesday over his missing 15-year-old daughter.
He said his daughter did not attend school in Singapore and he believed she was abducted.
"The girl did not attend school on Monday and checks found that she was taken to Malaysia through the Woodlands checkpoint on Sunday," Kumar said in a statement.
Following intelligence gathering, Kumar said police successfully rescued the girl from Kuantan in Pahang on Tuesday.
"We also arrested a 22-year-old man, who is also from China at the same location," he said.
Several items including mobile phones, clothes and other equipment were also seized.
The victim was taken to the hospital for a check-up, while the suspect was remanded for seven days.
“We are still investigating the motive behind this case. The success of this operation comes from intelligence gathering and public information,” he added. - November 27, 2024
