An activist group, *Gerakan Pulangkan Anak-Anak Kami* (GPAAK), has called on the Malaysian authorities to return children who were allegedly mistreated during recent raids to their parents. These children, who were taken into custody during the *Op Global* raids, are said to have been illegally separated from their families, in violation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). The GPAAK is urging the government to act immediately in correcting these wrongs and is also calling for the resignation of several key officials, including the Home Minister, the Women, Family and Community Development Minister, and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP).

GPAAK's spokesperson, Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, criticized the conduct of the police during the operation, which led to the seizure of over 400 children from various charity homes operated by Global Ikhwan Service and Business Holding Sdn Bhd (GISBH). The raids took place in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan on September 12, 2024.

The movement further condemned statements made by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) and its director, Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad. JAIS had questioned the legality of the marriages and divorces of GISBH members, particularly regarding polygamous marriages that allegedly lacked approval from the Syariah Court. GPAAK also targeted statement for suggesting that the GISBH operates like a cult, accusing the group of following unorthodox beliefs and engaging in "religious gangsterism."

In response to these events, GPAAK issued a list of 12 demands directed at the Madani government, urging swift action. The primary demand is for the immediate return of the children to their parents, arguing that their removal was based on flawed intelligence and inadequate investigation by the police and the Social Welfare Department (JKM). GPAAK also called for disciplinary action against officials involved in the operation, particularly those who allegedly coerced or deceived parents into signing documents under false pretenses.

The movement emphasized the need for a judicial review of the extended detention orders issued by the courts, which GPAAK claims were based on inaccurate information obtained through unethical means. Additionally, the group is demanding that the government provide immediate information about the whereabouts of the children and allow parents to reunite with them. They also called for media access to the children and their parents, many of whom remain in JKM detention centers.
