A semi-truck hauling approximately 11,000 pounds of Kit Kat bars overturned in Brandon, Mississippi, and caused the closure of a highway on-ramp.
The Mississippi Department of Transportation reported that the incident occurred Monday afternoon near the on-ramp to Highway 80, according to WLBT. No injuries were reported.
The semi was reportedly driving east on Interstate 20 when the trailer — filled with approximately 11,000 pounds of Kit Kat bars — disconnected from the truck cab and toppled over onto the westbound on-ramp.
Due to the obstruction and clean-up work, the ramps heading in both directions were shut down.
Kit Kat, known for its “give me a break” slogan, has been having a spate of back luck when it comes its ground transportation, noted the incident Tuesday morning on social media.
"We have breaking news about ANOTHER KitKat truck," the company wrote, along with a "mind blown" emoji. "We need a break…"
The post included a collage of news headlines reporting the overturned truck.
"According to news agencies, thankfully no injuries were reported," Kit Kat wrote.
The chocolate bar maker made headlines in March after one of its trucks was hijacked while transporting product between Poland and Italy.
The thieves made off with more than 400,000 Kit Kat bars — weighing an approximate 12 tons — as well as the delivery truck.
“We can confirm that 12T of KitKat products were stolen while in transit between our factory in Central Italy and their destination in Poland,” the company said in a statement at the time. “We are working closely with local authorities and supply partners to investigate. The good news: There are no concerns for consumer safety, and supply is not affected.”
The theft — and Kit Kat's response — went viral and spun off a trend of companies and individuals playfully insinuating that they were behind the heist.
Despite all of the press and social media attention the incident generated, the thieves have not yet been apprehended.
