IPILAN Nickel Corp., a Palawan-based subsidiary of Global Ferronickel Holdings Inc., is targeting production of at least 1.5 million wet metric tons this year, assuming favorable weather and operating conditions.
Global Ferronickel said in a disclosure on Thursday that the company also expected the sales mix for the year to consist of 52.6 percent low-grade nickel ore and 47.4 percent medium-grade nickel ore, in line with its market strategy and customer requirements.
To meet the production goals, the company is implementing a comprehensive mine development program that includes expanding mining areas, building more haul roads and installing critical environmental protection structures.
Global Ferronickell said Ipilan officially commenced its mining operations for 2026 with the successful loading of its first nickel ore shipment destined for China.
Ipilan operates under a mineral production sharing agreement with the Philippine government covering 2,385 hectares of land in the town of Brooke’s Point in Palawan.
Global Ferronickel said the start of Ipilan’s operations highlighted the continued implementation of a growth plan anchored on disciplined mine development, responsible mining practices and long-term value creation for shareholders.
It said that it was working closely with national and local government agencies, and host communities to guarantee that mining operations translated to inclusive economic growth, job creation and sustainable community development.
Global Ferronickel shares on Thursday added 0.52 percent to close at P1.92 each.
