
SUBANG JAYA: A resounding month of international celebration and cultural collaboration reached its pinnacle when Taylor’s University played host to the closing ceremony of the 2023 China-ASEAN Health Qigong Training Camp at its Lakeside Campus.
The global initiative, which commenced in Beijing in October, united participants on a cross-border journey across China and various ASEAN nations through the traditional healing practice of qigong.
The 2023 China-ASEAN Health Qigong Training Camp, organised by Qigong Management Centre of the General Administration of Sport of China, was composed of a harmonious blend of online and on ground activities, curated and executed by the China-ASEAN Fitness Qigong Association.
Also supported by the Malaysian Health Qigong Association, the event was graced by YB Wong Chen, Member of Parliament for Subang and other invited guests included Associate Professor Dr Anthony Ho Siong Hock, Taylor’s University Pro Vice-Chancellor - Research & Enterprise, Tan Leong Teck, Chairman of Malaysian Health Qigong Association, and Wang Yi, Office Director, Health Qigong Administrative Centre of General Administration of Sport of China.
In his speech at the closing ceremony, Wong praised the success of the event. “Today’s ceremony demonstrates how Qigong can act as a bridge for cultural connections at a regional level. It is through initiatives like these that we create a more connected and understanding world, fostering a more harmonious global community.
“I would like to congratulate the organisers for the success of this event and Taylor’s University for their commitment in championing international relations and multicultural diversity through such unique initiatives,” he said.
The closing ceremony of the 2023 China-ASEAN Health Qigong Training Camp at Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus represents initiatives that continue to strengthen international relations and build bridges of understanding between nations. Taylor’s University stands as a beacon of these ideals, fostering global connections and enriching the lives of students and communities alike.

Qigong, a traditional Chinese practice combining physical postures, breathing techniques, and mental focus to promote health and vitality, took centre stage during this event. With a deep history rooted in Chinese culture, this ancient practice has gained global recognition for its many physiological benefits, making it a valuable tool for promoting overall well-being.
Dong Jun, Director General of Qigong Management Centre of the General Administration of Sport of China said: “The 2023 China-ASEAN Health Qigong Training Camp initiative represents a tangible commitment to promoting this practical health routine that also preserves the essence of our traditional culture. The culmination of this regional health and cultural programme has given us the opportunity to better foster cultural exchanges between China and the ASEAN countries, whilst enhancing mutual understanding and cooperation.”
The month-long event witnessed unwavering support and active participation of the ASEAN nations, underscoring the significance of this camp.
