Globe Telecom Inc. on Wednesday launched its Starlink satellite-to-mobile service for Globe and TM users, offering promos starting at P99 that promise coverage even in remote and dead-zone areas.
Postpaid customers on Plan 1499 and up, along with Globe Platinum subscribers, may access the service at no additional cost, the telco said.
"With Globe Starlink, connection will go further, helping every Filipino stay connected wherever life takes them,” said Eric Tanbauco, Globe vice president.
Globe is offering free trial access for three months to Globe postpaid customers with Plans 1499 and up, and one year for Globe Platinum customers.
For Globe prepaid and TM users, the Globe Starlink P99 promo is good for 30 days, offering 2 GB data and 100 satellite texts to all networks.
A higher-priced promo at P299 is good for 90 days and offers 10 GB data plus 500 satellite texts to all networks.
The telco noted that data and texts can only be used when connected to Globe Starlink.
With the Starlink service, users on compatible Android and HarmonyOS devices can access SMS, app-based calls, messaging applications such as Viber, WhatsApp, and Facebook Messenger, navigation services, eGov PH, GCash, and GlobeOne even in areas without traditional mobile coverage.
The telco said support for iOS devices would come in a future update.
Globe shares on Wednesday dropped P8.00, or 0.43 percent, to close at P1,845 apiece.
