SEN. Bong Go said vice mayors and local legislative leaders play an important role in fostering effective governance and improving public services.
“As vice mayors, you play an important role in the management of our local governments. You are partners with our mayors in driving progress. However, you also have crucial responsibilities as presiding officers of the Sangguniang Bayan,” Go said during his attendance at the Vice Mayors’ League of the Philippines (VMLP) Quezon Chapter Legislative Excellence at the Sheraton Manila Bay in Manila on Wednesday.
“You are stars in your own respect,” Go added.
He acknowledged the current tough political climate, encouraging local leaders to stay focused on their duty to serve the public despite political divides.
“Your duty goes beyond leading the Legislative Council. You also facilitate consensus, consider various perspectives, and ensure that local policies prioritize the well-being of your constituents,” he said.
Present during the event were Quezon Province Gov. Helen Tan and Vice Gov. Third Alcala, as well as VMLP–Quezon Chapter officers, including President and Pitogo Vice Mayor Paul Villaflor, Vice President and Tiaong Vice Mayor William Razon, Secretary and Mulanay Vice Mayor Jay Castilleja, Treasurer and Sariaya Vice Mayor Arlene Genove, Auditor and Mauban Vice Mayor Alween Sardea, and Public Relations Officer and Pagbilao Vice Mayor Walter Dapla.
