Cyber resilience is no longer an optional investment but the new currency of trust in global trade and governance.
Speaking at the launch of the third Cyber Digital Services, Defence and Security Asia Exhibition and Conference (CyberDSA 2025) at the Malaysian International Trade and Exhibition Centre in Kuala Lumpur yesterday, Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said Malaysia cannot afford to remain reactive in building a cyber-resilient environment.

“Artificial intelligence-driven attacks, supply chain vulnerabilities, and threats to operational technology and critical infrastructure are no longer distant concerns. They are real, evolving risks that can impact national security, economic stability, and public confidence,” Gobind said.

“Cyber resilience is the foundation of economic progress and national security, while digital trust enables businesses to thrive, governments to govern effectively, and citizens to safely embrace the benefits of digital transformation.”

CyberDSA 2025, which began yesterday, is expected to draw more than 8,000 trade professionals from 45 countries and 150 exhibitors from 15 nations. The three-day event addresses the increasingly complex cybersecurity challenges shaping Asia and beyond.

Themed “Pioneering the Future: Building a Resilient and Trusted Digital Nation”, CyberDSA 2025 serves as a platform to translate Malaysia’s national priorities into tangible solutions for regional cybersecurity and digital trust. It aims to drive capacity building, cross-border collaboration, adoption of best practices, and the development of robust digital infrastructure.

The event will feature conferences and forums on key themes, including:

AI, alliances and digital defence
Cyber command and quantum threats
Financial sector resilience and cyber response readiness

CyberDSA 2025 is jointly hosted by CyberSecurity Malaysia and the Defence Cyber and Electromagnetic Division of the Malaysian Armed Forces.

Meanwhile, telecommunications company XOX yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with MyDigital ID to promote the adoption of MyDigital ID through its flagship MySiswa programme. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Gobind and CyberSecurity Malaysia chairman Al-Ishsal Ishak.

Through this collaboration, XOX will leverage its nationwide youth network to accelerate the adoption of MyDigital ID while embedding real-world use cases across universities and campuses.

Datuk Kenneth Vun, managing director of XOX, said cyberspace offers both opportunity and risk.

“While AI and digital platforms empower progress, they are also exploited by criminals. The answer is not fear, but trust,” Vun said.

“MyDigital ID provides that trust, protecting privacy, ensuring security, and opening new possibilities for those who use it responsibly. XOX will fully support MyDigital ID. This is our mission to build a trusted, inclusive, and forward-looking digital ecosystem for Malaysia.”
