Digital Minister outlines shift from planning to full execution under the 13MP and the Malaysia Digital Action Plan 2030, affirming the nation’s intent to lead Southeast Asia’s digital landscape

MALAYSIA is accelerating its trajectory towards becoming an AI-driven nation by 2030, propelled by the implementation of the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK-13) and the Malaysia Digital Action Plan 2030, Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo has announced.

He emphasised that the government’s ambition extends beyond readiness for the digital era; Malaysia aims to emerge as a regional digital leader.

“We will continue to drive the Malaysia Digital Action Plan 2030 and the National AI Action Plan 2026–2030 to ensure that Malaysia is not only prepared to enter the digital era, but also capable of becoming a regional producer of digital solutions,” he said during the Ministry of Digital’s second-anniversary appreciation ceremony on Friday.

Reflecting on the ministry’s two-year milestone, Gobind highlighted several key achievements, including the gazetting and enforcement of pivotal legislation such as the Data Sharing Act 2025 [Act 864] and the rollout of the National Cloud Computing Policy (NCCP).

“In 2025, the Ministry transitions from the planning phase to full implementation with the gazetting of the Data Sharing Act 2025, the launch of the National Cloud Computing Policy (NCCP), as well as the rollout of the AI City pilot projects in Putrajaya and seven other cities to strengthen the nation’s digital infrastructure,” he explained.

The anniversary celebration served as a platform to recognise the ministry’s progress, reinforce leadership within the digital sector, and reaffirm the commitment of all ministry personnel in driving Malaysia’s digital transformation towards 2030. - December 13, 2025
