General Operations Force confiscates 114kg of syabu and a boat in Kelantan, also detains two men in separate rice smuggling case.
KOTA BHARU: The General Operations Force (GOF) Southeast Brigade seized 114 kilogrammes of syabu worth RM5.7 million in an operation near Pengkalan Chepa.
The seizure was made at about 12.30 am last Sunday under Ops Taring Wawasan Kelantan near Sungai Peng.
Brigade commander SAC Ahmad Radzi Hussain said a team from Battalion 9 discovered an abandoned blue boat in a bushy area.
“Inspection found several white sacks containing crystal lumps believed to be syabu weighing about 114 kilogrammes,” he said in a statement.
A motorised boat believed to have been used in the smuggling activity was also confiscated.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
All seized items were taken to the Kota Bharu district police headquarters narcotics division.
In a separate case, Ahmad Radzi said more than 10 tonnes of white rice and glutinous rice were seized in three raids in Pasir Mas and Tumpat yesterday.
The rice, worth over RM41,000, is believed to have been smuggled from Thailand via illegal entry points.
Two men were detained on suspicion of acting as transporters for the local market.
This case is being investigated under the Control of Padi and Rice Act 1994.
