PHILWEB Corp. has elected Lance Gokongwei as chairman of its board, completing the listed gaming technology firm’s governance restructuring as it moves to accelerate the rollout of artificial intelligence (AI)-powered infrastructure.
The leadership change follows Gokongwei’s appointment to the PhilWeb board in July and his P2.02-billion strategic equity investment in the company.
PhilWeb said the transition marked a shift from capitalization and restructuring toward the execution of its business-to-business technology strategy, with the company focusing on AI-enabled infrastructure for the regulated digital gaming sector.
“This transition marks a critical inflection point for our capitalization and operational scale,” Gokongwei said.
“Our objective is clear: to deploy institutional-grade, AI-powered infrastructure that establishes a new operational standard for security and compliance across the regulated digital ecosystem,” he added.
PhilWeb plans to accelerate the deployment of an enterprise AI layer covering real-time operational monitoring, algorithmic risk management, regulatory compliance automation, anti-fraud detection and customer lifecycle optimization.
PhilWeb President Brian Ng said Gokongwei’s appointment would provide the governance needed as the company scales its technology operations.
“Having Lance Gokongwei step into the chairman role provides the institutional governance required for our next phase of scale,” he said.
Ng added that Gokongwei’s oversight would support the rollout of PhilWeb’s AI infrastructure for the backend requirements of integrated casino resorts and global platform providers.
PhilWeb said its technology currently supports an ecosystem of integrated casino resorts and licensed operators, including Okada Manila, Hann Casino, Newport World Resorts, NUSTAR Resort and Casino, FBM Philippines and PT Gaming.
The company also said it continues to integrate global content providers, including Pragmatic Play and Games Global, into its digital infrastructure.
PhilWeb describes itself as a technology company providing digital infrastructure, operational systems and platform technology solutions for regulated digital ecosystems in the Philippines.
The company said its strategy is centered on scalable infrastructure, AI-enabled operational systems, compliance technologies and platform solutions for licensed operators.
PhilWeb shares on Friday closed up P0.16, or 1.13 percent, at P14.38 each amid a 0.8-percent drop for the benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index.
