Kota Kinabalu: Birthday boy Nicholas Fung produced a stunning final round of 66 to take the Hilux Cup title at Sabah Golf and Country Club (SGCC) on Thursday.

The local lad who celebrated his 33rd birthday pipped fellow Sabahans Ben Leong and Aretha Pan by three strokes with his 8-under 208 aggregate to take home the RM31,500 winning prize presented by UMW Toyota Motor.

He started the day at two-under in joint third and was four strokes behind overnight joint leaders Ben and Galven Green. The lead changed hands several times among the front runners before Nicholas finally took the outright lead after notching three birdies in a row on the 13th, 14th and 15th holes, and finished the round with a birdie on the Par 5 18th.
