The post Good News For Drivers! 50% Toll Discount Announced For Nov 6 & 7 In Conjunction With Deepavali appeared first on WORLD OF BUZZ.
In conjunction with the upcoming Deepavali celebrations, the government has officially announced a generous 50% toll discount spanning two days for highway users nationwide.
According to BERNAMA, Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi announced that the initiative reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to easing the financial burden of citizens during festive seasons. The total compensation amounting to RM20.11 million will be channeled directly to the respective highway concession companies.

Timing, eligible vehicle classes, and border toll exceptions
The 50% toll reduction will kick off at 12:00 AM this Friday and will run continuously until 11:59 PM on Saturday, giving families ample time to travel safely.
According to the Ministry of Works, the special toll rate applies to:
Class 1 private vehicles across all major expressways and toll plazas nationwide.
Class 2 vehicles specifically traversing the Penang Bridge.
However, motorists should take note that the toll exemption does not apply to national border toll plazas, namely the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) Toll Plaza on the North-South Expressway (PLUS) and the Tanjung Kupang (TTK) Toll Plaza on the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link (LINKEDUA).

Spreading festive joy and easing travel costs
The initiative is designed to help citizens, particularly the Hindu community returning to their hometowns or visiting loved ones, celebrate Deepavali with greater peace of mind and strengthened family bonds.
“This initiative is hoped to help ease the travel costs of the rakyat, especially the Hindu community returning to their hometowns or visiting family members to celebrate Deepavali, thereby giving meaning to the festive spirit through family ties and togetherness,” Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said.
With heavy traffic expected as millions head out for the long weekend, authorities have strongly advised motorists to plan their journeys ahead of time.
