Google is giving students another reason to bring AI into their study routine, with a new student offer that provides a year of Google AI Plus at no cost.
The offer is available in Malaysia, alongside more than 140 countries and territories where Google’s AI subscriptions are supported. For Malaysian students, the deal provides access to Google AI Plus for 12 months before the subscription switches back to the standard paid rate unless cancelled.
For Malaysia, Google AI Plus normally comes with 400GB of cloud storage and costs RM23.99 per month, which puts the value of the 12-month student offer at roughly RM287.88 based on the current price.
The subscription gives students higher usage limits in Gemini, including access to Gemini 3.1 Pro and Deep Research, along with more access to Google’s image, music and video generation tools. It also brings Gemini into Google apps such as Gmail and provides additional capabilities in Gemini Notebook.
On the storage side, the 400GB allocation is shared across Google Drive, Gmail and Google Photos, making the offer useful beyond just the AI features.
There is also Deep Research for handling more involved research tasks, along with Gemini Live and Google Lens features that can help students work through study materials and questions.
To claim, user must must be at least 16 years old and enrolled at a higher-education institution in a country where Google AI Plus is supported. Students need to verify their student status when requested, have a personal Google Account and provide a qualifying payment method through Google Payments.
Next, it has to be redeemed before the end of 2026, with the 12-month period starting from the day the student claims the offer.
In the ruthless, competing world of AI services, Google is clearly tackling the educational segment with a move like this in order to stay relevant.
