SHAH ALAM: For one Shah Alam Pokémon fan, the quest to “catch ’em all” ended not with a Pokédex — but a payday big enough to buy a Porsche, The Rakyat Post reported.
Longtime collector Damiral Imran has stunned the local and international card community after selling his entire Pokémon trove for nearly RM1.87 million.
The jaw-dropping deal, which went viral on social media, is believed to be one of Malaysia’s biggest private Pokémon card transactions.
His collection, built over more than a decade, included everything from pristine Charizards to sealed booster boxes that would make even Team Rocket green with envy.
Experts valued the treasure at over RM2 million, with some individual cards fetching tens of thousands of ringgit each.
But Damiral was not just in it for cash — he also offered to swap the collection for a Porsche 911 Carrera 4S and some top-up money.
He even promised a RM50,000 finder’s fee and a bonus rare card worth the same amount to anyone who helped seal the deal.
In his viral post, Damiral described the collection as “history, rarity, and legacy in one vault,” reflecting the game’s nostalgic pull and growing collector market.
Pokémon trading cards have exploded in value worldwide, with rare holo editions and graded cards now treated like fine art investments.
For Damiral, the sale marks the ultimate evolution — from a childhood hobby to a real-world payday fit for a Pokémon master.
