Government cuts RON97 and diesel prices by 4 sen per litre across Peninsular Malaysia

THE Ministry of Finance has confirmed a reduction in the retail prices of RON97 petrol and diesel in Peninsular Malaysia by 4 sen per litre, to take effect from 14 August to 20 August 2025. The adjustment follows recent changes in global oil prices.

“In line with the fluctuations in global oil prices, the Government has agreed to reduce the retail prices of RON97 by 4 sen to RM3.13 per litre and diesel in Peninsular Malaysia by 4 sen to RM2.90 per litre from 14 August 2025 to 20 August 2025,” the Ministry said in a statement.

Reaffirming its commitment to price stability, the Government added that it “will continue to monitor market developments and adjust the RON97 and diesel fuel’s retail prices based on global oil market fluctuations, whilst supporting price stability.”

According to the Ministry, the revised retail prices of petroleum products for the week are as follows: the retail price of RON97 petrol has been reduced by 4 sen to RM3.13 per litre; the retail price of RON95 petrol remains unchanged at RM2.05 per litre; the retail price of diesel in Peninsular Malaysia has been reduced by 4 sen to RM2.90 per litre; and the retail price of diesel in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan remains unchanged at RM2.15 per litre.

“The Government will continue to monitor global oil price trends and take appropriate measures to safeguard the welfare and well-being of the people,” the statement added. - August 13, 2025
