From 1 July 2026, eligible households can get a RM200 rebate on selected energy-efficient models under the government’s NUR@PETRA programme. It’s also one of those government schemes that tends to fly under the radar, despite offering a fairly generous rebate.
A total of 160,000 rebates are available on a first come, first served basis. The programme covers selected 4- and 5-star air conditioners and refrigerators under the NUR:DOMESTIK programme, which can help reduce electricity usage over time.
Who Can Apply
The programme is open to Malaysian citizens with a residential electricity account. If you’re renting, you can still apply with the account holder’s permission.
To qualify, the appliance must appear on SEDA’s approved product list and be purchased from an authorised retailer under the NUR:DOMESTIK programme.
Finding An Eligible Model
The easiest way you can check is through SEDA’s online product search. Choose either air conditioners or refrigerators, select the brand, and the website will display the approved models.
The list currently covers 34 refrigerator brands, including Samsung, Toshiba, Bosch and Sharp, as well as 39 air conditioner brands such as Daikin, LG, Mitsubishi, Pensonic and Panasonic. Once you’ve found an eligible model, you can use the same website to search for authorised retailers by state.
The RM200 rebate is deducted immediately when you make your purchase, so there’s no need to wait for a separate reimbursement. It can be redeemed at participating retailers nationwide or through approved online stores on platforms such as Shopee, Lazada, TikTok Shop, PGMall and Youbeli.
After submitting your application, you can return to the NUR@PETRA website to check your application status using your electricity account number and utility provider.
Not Every Model Qualifies
The programme covers dozens of well-known brands, but eligibility depends on the specific model, not just the brand or energy rating.
For example, Samsung, Panasonic and Daikin are among the approved brands, but not every model from those brands qualifies for the rebate. SEDA’s product search narrows the list down to approved models, making it easier to see whether the appliance you’re considering is included in the programme.
