In a continued effort to support the rakyat amid rising living costs, the Malaysian Government has announced a one-off RM100 Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) credit for all Malaysian adults aged 18 and above, beginning 9 February 2026.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim made the announcement during his monthly address in Putrajaya, emphasizing that the initiative is timed strategically ahead of the Chinese New Year 2026 and the upcoming Ramadan period, when household spending typically increases.
The RM100 SARA credit will be disbursed via the MyKasih system and can be used directly with MyKad at participating supermarkets and retail outlets nationwide. No registration or activation is required, recipients only need to present their MyKad to purchase essential goods.
Supporting Daily Needs for 22 Million Adults
This one-off assistance is expected to benefit approximately 22 million Malaysian adults, making it one of the most inclusive aid initiatives announced under Budget 2026. The SARA credit can be used to purchase essential items across 14 approved product categories, helping households manage daily necessities during festive and fasting periods.
The upcoming disbursement marks the second round of SARA, following the first phase that ran from 31 August to 31 December 2025.
Part of a Broader Rahmah Assistance Framework
For 2026, the government has allocated RM15 billion for Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) combined, reflecting its ongoing commitment to targeted, people-centric assistance.
In addition to the RM100 one-off credit:
- Monthly SARA recipients will receive between RM50 and RM200 (depending on eligibility) via MyKad starting 9 January 2026.
- STR Phase 1 payments, with amounts of up to RM500, will commence on 20 January 2026.
A Rahmah Approach to Festive Preparedness
The timing of the SARA RM100 credit underscores the government’s Rahmah approach, ensuring that Malaysians of all backgrounds can better prepare for festive celebrations and religious observances without added financial strain.
Further details on the programme’s duration and validity period are expected to be announced closer to the implementation date. This initiative reinforces the government’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare of the rakyat while fostering inclusive economic resilience as Malaysia enters 2026.
