Kota Kinabalu: Warisan Wira Chief Terence Au said the Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association (KDCA) Youth Council should focus on youth empowerment and preservation of the Kadazan, Dusun, Murut and Rungus (KDMR) culture, instead of politics.

Commenting on its Chairman Steve Mositun’s call for former Chief Minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal to be investigated over alleged approval of identification documents to foreigners during the two years Warisan was the State Government, he said:

“We respect his (Steve) views as a youth leader.

“However, we also believe technical issues involving national administrative policies and the integrity of government departments should not be politicised openly, especially on social media.

“This raises concerns about the misuse of cultural platforms for personal political agendas.”

“Not every issue needs to be politicised. Some matters should be resolved with a cool head and an open heart.

“The facts are clear. Respect the process and let us not tarnish integrity simply due to differing perspectives,” he said.

He said the National Registration Department (NRD) had issued an official clarification.

“In its statement, the NRD clarified that all applications for MyKAS, MyPR or MyKAD are fully subject to existing laws and procedures. No supporting letter, even from political leaders, can guarantee automatic approval. All applications must undergo strict evaluation, background checks and verification processes.”
